Some developers seek to the last version of Android for x 86 processors.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Recently, a version of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 for x 86 platform Android runs on Internet. A first porting code is before any intended to developers for a few more or less promising tests on tablets and netbooks. Visibly, the optimizations made to this version the pré-destine primarily for AMD processors, better used.

Chih-Wei Huang, one of the developers who made a name bossant on porting of Android on x 86 platforms, explains that this version supports WiFi and touch multi-point. However, GPUS are not put to contribution to the acceleration OpenGL ES. Idem, forums, photo and Ethernet port sensors are not yet recognized.

Remember of course that this kind of ports is not official and that Google has nothing with these versions. The giant focusing on the ARM of its mobile operating system version, leaving it to those who wish to adapt it to the processors x 86. Note that AMD is not foreign to some of these optimizations in the Ice Cream Sandwich code for x 86. More information on some specialized, as Android - x 86 .org sites.

Android: Ice Cream Sandwich to accelerate the reunification…

If the fragmentation of Android terminals Park tends to tighten on Froyo and Gingerbread versions, Google plans to encourage the gathering around Ice Cream Sandwich.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich

The output of Ice Cream Sandwich would be imminent and looks already capital for Google in its commitment to overcoming the fragmentation of Android, both discredited, especially with developers. But where is it precisely distribution different versions of Android?

Google can be satisfied with Froyo (2.2) fall for the first time under 50% of the Park, to 45.3%, which benefit of Gingerbread (2.3) approaching 40%. Other satisfaction, lightning (2.1) fell to 11.7% of the Android and grinds 1.5 and 1.6 (Cupcake and Donut) apply more only 1.1 and 1.4%. Meanwhile, Honeycomb (3.x) penalty to take advantage of good sales of certain models of Android tablets and represents only about 2% of the Park.

Observers however regretted that the Android Park developments are more to the account of the efforts of builders to generalize the latest versions on their new terminals (including HTC and Samsung that record very large volumes of sales on their recent products, evidenced by the success of the Galaxy S II), on the deployment of updates - involving operators - considered slow and tedious. A situation in which the interest of pushing Ice Cream Sandwich as system Android unified a lot of sense, especially for the Market relies on a compatibility improved applications to boost its revenues...

A new Nexus for Ice Cream Sandwich in October/November?

Between real news and rumours, Ice Cream Sandwich is talking about him...

Android Ice Cream Sandwich

A few time already said the release of the new version of Android approaching great. The rumor was right because a Conference, Eric Schmidt has confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich will be published between the months of October and November. While this has been confirmed, the numbering of Ice Cream Sandwich could also evolve.

If it is said that this new version of the OS would be 2.4, Google might ultimately choose the number 4.0. A numbering which justify easily, since it presents us Ice Cream Sandwich as a unified OS for smartphones and tablets... version or when Gingerbread and Honeycomb would more than one form.

And it is not everything, since the output of Ice Cream Sandwich could be accompanied by the arrival of a new series of terminals, including a new smartphone in the Google's Nexus range, which would be always designed by Samsung: the Nexus premium which would be equipped with a Texas Instruments OMAP ARM SoC. We hear even the American operator Verizon has decided to sulk in Samsung Galaxy S II to highlight the Nexus bonus at the end of the year, because this smartphone would be more able to compete with the iPhone 5. Of course, is swimming in full rumours.
