Part of the American police will be soon equipped with an iPhone application for facial recognition.In September, a dozen us States équiperont their police to iPhone. They will be linked to facial recognition mobile devices developed by BI2 Technologies, a company of Massachusetts.
This device will be used by the police only if they have no other way to identify your person. Some police officers also seemed to worry about this new feature for the civil liberties. Photographing someone remotely remains a quite different approach to a record of fingerprints that can only be done with the agreement of the person. Some Sheriffs were announced that they intend to use it with caution.
Facial recognition is entered into the daily lives of millions of users Apple (iPhoto), Google (Picasa) or Facebook. Google even suspended last may a facial recognition on mobile project which allowed Googling the face of any person taken photo on the street. The experience of the American police will indeed help defuse the first complaints in justice on this issue.
