Lifespan of the SSD: again (11)

We thus (finally) launched our tests on a second SSD to verify life. Instead - as in our first test - write sequentially from a hard disk, we use IOMeter. We followed the recommendations of critical at the level of the entry type: one half of the entries is sequential, the other half is random. In each case, there are 5% 4 KB file, 5% of 8 KB files, 10% of files of 16 KB, 10% of files of 32 KB, 35% of files of 64 KB and 35% of files of 128 KB.

We are launching the test for 24 hours and we then check the amount of data actually written, if DSS is errors and if everything seems to work correctly.

The chosen SSD is a SSDNow V100 of 64 GB of Kingston, which we thank for the loan. This entry-level model uses memory Toshiba and Toshiba controller and it is connected to SATA 3 GB/s a machine to test under Windows 7. We will try to keep you abreast of the progress of this test in the news, but also on our Twitter account. Remember that our first test lasted more than 4 months before our Falcon 128 GB (a G.Skill SSD based on Indilinx controller and memory Samsung) Decides to stop working.
