Samsung has announced a new screen, the S27A850. This 27 inch model works in 2,560 x 1,440, such as the Dell U2711 or iMac 27-inch Apple, but especially to a "new" technology, the PLS.
PLS, Plane to Line Switching, is a close technology IPS but - Samsung-, angles of view are still wider and the price is about 10% lower production. The technology therefore joined the SDI close the IPS technology. The PLS seems to have the same benefits as the IPS, and the same disadvantages: angles of view very open, much more that the TN, but also a fairly average contrast (600: 1 in the first tests).
The screen is "Edge LED", that is illuminated by side LEDs, and the response time measured in tests 7 ms. rest to see the price of this screen, which should be lower than other similar models. It is not an evil: both Dell that Apple offer 27 inches to 2,560 x 1,440 at very high prices, it is possible to buy two or three screens 27-inch 1920 x 1080 for the price of a Cinema Display or a U2711.
