A 16 GB of DDR3 in Apacer module

The Apacer Taiwanese manufacturer has just announced a new DDR3 DIMM for 16 GB servers...

Apacer is to unveil a new module of RAM for servers. This bar of DDR3 offers a capacity of 16 GB. It operates at 1333 MHz, displays latencies 9-9-9 and requires a nominal voltage of 1.35 volt. This module is type LRDIMM, a technology which allows to increase capacity without increasing the load on the memory bus (Apacer mentions a reduction of 50% from a dual-rank DIMM, and 75% from a quad-rank).

However, the presence of a cache memory increases the cost. We also note the presence of a sink in aluminium (painted black). The Taiwanese manufacturer says validated its solution on the recent AMD and Intel platforms. It remains to know when and how many Apacer account start this bar.

apacerproiias203ssd02

Apacer is to unveil its Pro II as2o3. This new SSD adopts a format 2.5 inches and 3 Gb/s Serial ATA interface. Are under the hood a unknown controller (probably a JMicron given the rest of the features), accompanied by 128 MB of cache memory, and 32, 64, 128 or 256 GB memory flash MLC. Apacer advance sequential maximum flow of 250 MB/s read, for 230 MB/s write (for the larger models). The 64 GB version only 250-180 MB / s and 200 - 100 MB/s to 32 GB. The Pro II as2o3 supports the TRIM command.

The Taiwanese manufacturer says that his flash drive has a MTBF of 1 million hours, and that it is covered by a guarantee of two years. This SSD will be proposed only, but also with a comprehensive update kit (which includes a SATA to USB adapter, adapter 2.5 inch to 3.5 inches and a copy of Acronis True Image backup software). In the end this Pro II as2o3 has nothing exciting, it is hoped therefore that the pricing will be aggressive!
