The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S III already in production?

Samsung Mobile Display has launched the production of screens using the Super AMOLED Plus HD technology that equip the Galaxy S III.

The Display of the Korean Samsung Mobile division has launched the mass production of screens technology Super AMOLED Plus HD and type "non-PenTile" that could equip a certain Galaxy S III.

A reminder, the screens fitted the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus were of type Super AMOLED HD PenTile, that they used a slightly different technology at the subpixel level, without returning to the sharp technical details, are of lesser density thus giving a less fine and precise image with colors to relatively less flattering rendering for the retina.

The new screens in production will therefore benefit from an excellent display quality, size would be "4.65 and the density of pixels would reach the 316 ppi (pixels per inch) as the Super LCD 2 of the recent HTC One X screen (against 326 on the 4 and 4 S Apple iPhone and on the Sony Xperia S 342).

Competition is tough and the output of the Galaxy S III said. According to The Verge, Samsung said the Korean daily Asia that its future Android terminal is currently testing various Korean operators. This phase, usually for a period of two months, could be shortened by Samsung who wishes to bring to market its Galaxy S III more quickly. But terminal shipping of multiple recent technologies such as LTE (4 G), a processor connectivity quad core and a new screen model, the challenge is full-bodied. It would be a pity to leave a smartphone also advanced with bugs fixed and other technical problems.

Hard drives: the return to a mass production in Thailand will take time

Digitimes Research table on a resumption of intensive production in Thailand to the beginning of the second quarter of 2012, and as soon as early January as some believed.

Everyone knows that the floods in Thailand had a strong impact on the delivery of the hard drives, in fact increasing the rates of these parts. If production chains are distributed on the whole, the climate catastrophe caused a net loss on sales of the fourth quarter, reflected in the figures of Intel.

Several sources suggest that the return to a normal production in the stricken region will be next February. Assemblers, living on their stocks, are able to maintain production as with almost 20 million disks on their shelves. Western Digital HDD parts manufacturers, think able to return to 70% of their production capacity for March 2012, three months after the scheduled date. Although it should be remembered that WD is a case apart and is the most affected by the Thai floods.

Hard disk production table according to Digitimes Research

On the second quarter, Digitimes Research estimates that manufacturers will be able to ensure the production of 165 million units, or only a million units less the demand. To catch up and redo stock, production units out half a million additional hard disks for the third and fourth quarters of 2012.

Concerning the prices of these products, from our information and contrary to the chart, the first quarter of 2012 will not really good season for the purchase of hard drives, and it is likely that resellers will be able to revise downward the rates from mid-2012, even if stocks are not yet fully back. Of course, these estimates will be subject to evolution with what actually happens in manufacturing of hard drives.

We follow closely the situation in Thailand, where Western Digital - disk hard - a world leader in saw its plants be put out of action produce following terrible floods. Since then, everyone is his commentary on the shortage begins to strike and could continue for a good part of the year 2012. Which has the impact visible to blow up the prices of the drives, as we see there is little in analyzing price at online stores.

In this context, any encouraging news is good to take. In this case, it is Western Digital announced have been able to boost its production on one of its sites where floods receded, at Bang Pa - In. A site where a single plant to resumed, while she was drowned under 2 metres of water since October 15. Rule pumping and a reconstruction of the power supply helped revive manufacturing. In the other buildings at the site, reclamation continues and the machines were transported to be analyzed and repaired.

However, Western Digital is not ready to see the end of the tunnel. Indeed, we also learn that another plant of the same site will not resume before March 2012. A plant paramount as it manufactures the sliders of the disks (the heads of reading and writing), forcing the manufacturer to find heads from other suppliers. Finally, Western Digital evaluates for the first time the harm suffered, and considers that the flood will cost him between 225 and 275 million dollars on the only fourth quarter 2011.

The company produces motors Nidec hard drives allowing rotation of the plates. Usually, it represents nearly 75% of the total production of all engines built in HDD sold worldwide. But the floods, production capacity has been reduced without its engines, the hard drive manufacturers can consider resuming their normal activities.

Good news, Nidec announced that production gradually resumed on the platform of Thailand in Ayutthaya plant thereby cushion the shortage was announced yesterday for the fourth quarter of 2011.

Nidec has ten manufacturing plants in Thailand, eight of which were affected by flooding. For example, the production unit Rangsit was arrested Oct. 13, taking over from the October 25, unlike the site of Ayutthaya who took over on November 4. In the Philippines, the monthly capacity from 15 million units usually produced 25 million, as in China where they have gone from 10 to 15 million units per day.

However, there is still a production loss of nearly 30%, about 140 million small engine in the third quarter. In the future, Nidec will review plans to charge its plants from 62% to 43% of the total production of the company in Thailand, and from 23% to 36% in the Philippines and 15% to 21 % in China, in order to rectify this production and to protect themselves from potential future problems in some areas.
