The GTX 680 Super OverClock Wind Force 5 X of Gigabyte arrives

Gigabyte exposes his huge GTX 680 Super OverClock WindForce 5 X to Computex 2012 and announces his arrival for the month of July in store.

The huge GTX 680 Super OverClock WindForce 5 X of Gigabyte graphics card, that we had the chance to manipulate with the arrival at our premises of the marketing manager in charge of the graphics of the mark is in imminent approach.

Indeed, exposed to the Computex 2012, the Mastodon, which reminds somewhat an aircraft carrier, with its large room steam copper, his nine heat-pipes of 6 mm, its enormous radiator covering all the PCB and its five lateral fans is being finalized in the labs of Gigabyte and should be available current July.

The constructor guaranteed a very efficient cooling but what about the noise with the use of small type Server (40 mm) rack fans known for their noisy operation at full? According to the manufacturer, the map will use its fans based on the workload that she will conduct so at rest will be all disabled but no specific data has been provided to the level of noise in load when five fans, are an item to verify therefore test!

Gigabyte has not communicated precisely on the frequencies GPU and memory which will be proposed (talking 1137/1202 Mhz for the GPU and 1600 Mhz for the 2 GB of GDDR5) for a performance gain estimated at less than 10% from the GTX 680 of reference.

The map will occupy 3 PCI-Express slots in the case and will require two 8-pin PCI-e connectors to work. The price was not disclosed but can be expected at a relatively high rate.

Gigabyte: the Thunderbolt and the LGA2011 program

Two ports Thunderbolt on one side and the LGA2011 of the other to four motherboards signed Gigabyte.

The Thunderbolt is the honour in Gigabyte with these two new motherboards named for the occasion GA-Z77X-UP4 TH and GA-Z77X-UP5 TH. Two, these two Intel ports to mini DisplayPort format to transmit data at high speed 10 Gb/s maximum. This technology allows the chaining of equipment to associate several external hard drives and a screen at the end of chain for example. They are in total not less than six devices that can be connected to each port Thunderbolt. Intel offers also via its port out the video stream it, but for the moment, very few screens support mini-DisplayPort and it will then be necessary to go through a mini-DisplayPort/DisplayPort adapter to make this work.

For the rest of the specifications of these two motherboards, we find the new Ultra Durable 5 range by that we introduced yesterday with its 32 floors of food, the GA-X77X-UP7 with the same control chip, the PowIrstage IR3550. With its socket LGA 1155, they can allow the latest processors Intel Ivy Bridge without problem and four benches up to 2400 MHz compatible XMP DDR3 memory. Three ports PCI-Express 16 x with a wired in 8 x and the last 4 x, as well as three other ports PCI-e 1 x which will be overshadowed by graphics cards if all 16 ports x are occupied. For the rest of these connectors on these two motherboards, we can compare the maps of the manufacturer already launched as the GA-Z77X-UD5H which offers no port Thunderbolt, the difference only on this point.

GIGABYTE-Z77X-UP5-TH-001

The presentation of these two maps to the 2012 Computex Gigabyte not yet contacted public prices for these, but should at least rely on a rate around $ 150 if not more...

Always in Gigabyte, our colleagues from TechPowerUp put hand on two other models under the name Ultra Durable 5, but this time with a LGA 2011 socket for processors Intel Sandy Bridge-E. If not there for new processors Ivy Bridge, the famous manufacturer offers new models for the previous generation with its components offering superior life. The references for these two new models are GA-X79S-UP5 WiFi and GA-X 79-UP4.

Must be sold below $ 300 with features seven floors of food always driven by the same PowIRstage IR3550, eight benches memory chip the DDR3 for in quadruple channels and four ports PCI-Express 3.0 x 16 cabled 16 x / 8 x / 16 x / 8 x. UP5 WiFi version, as its name indicates, it has an additional WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 card and eight floors of food instead of seven for his little sister. For the rest, the specifications are similar, but we were not aware of the price, which must be no surprise a little higher.

The BIOS of Gigabyte passes in “3D”

Gigabyte BIOS upgrades in UEFI motherboard with more interactive when applying changes in parameters.

Gigabyte has just introduced an official BIOS for its next generation motherboards, starting with those equipped with the Intel x79 chipset for Sandy Bridge-E. The latter, called 3D BIOS, is to actually offer two different dual-navigation UEFI, with the ability to switch from one presentation to another by clicking (or pressing the F1 key).

The first presentation is classic, with its sections, lists and traditional menus, while the second (called "3D") adds various visual elements. A graphical representation of the motherboard that can handle provides access in an intuitive way to various components of the machine, like CPU, RAM or SATA controllers. A simple click on these to open a menu related to apply some parameter changes.

This is explained in this video by Gigabyte 3D Presend the BIOS:

Gigabyte released an external 1.8 inch hard drive: Tiny A2

Barely larger than a lighter, the hard disk A2 Tiny of Gigabyte is a surprising model. Very small, it is only 78 x 59 x 13 mm for a weight of about 80 g. It can be transported easily where you want. It will also find its place in any pocket of jeans and jacket. Practice for those who need to travel light but who still want to keep their valuable data with them...

The Gigabyte A2 Tiny has a grey and chestnut color package, which operates a USB 2.0 connector. Inside is a hard disk format 1.8 inch which provides a storage capacity of 160 GB. A rather low capability by days but the size of the vehicle and the type of use (occasional, Editor's note) that should be sufficient in many cases... Note that the hard disk is maintained in his case by an anti vibration and anti shock system, which should provide a good shelf life. A2 Tiny price is not known at this time.

Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2: €400 for a card mother LGA-1155?

The Taiwanese manufacturer Gigabyte will soon launch a motherboard Z68/LGA-1155 to more than €400...

A little over five years ago, the motherboard in the heart of an Intel platform offered a considerable amount of features that are now directly integrated into Santa Clara giant processors. It was justifiable to spend some money on this component. This logic is now ancient history, and it is difficult to see how Gigabyte can afford to seek more than €400 for the G1.Sniper 2.

This motherboard is the players, a population that the Taiwanese manufacturer clearly considered cows milk. To the ATX, it incorporates the Intel Z68 Express chipset and socket LGA-1155, which also supports the current Sandy Bridge, as the future Ivy Bridge.  It has also four slots supporting the DDR3 to 2133 MHz on two channels, and two slots PCI Express x 16 (SNB, IVB 3.0 2.0), which are compatible with SLI, CrossFireX, and Virtu technologies. Side storage, there are four Serial ATA 6 Gb/s, and three ports 3 Gb/s.

Gigabyte also incorporates a Bigfoot Networks Killer E2100 network controller and a Creative CA20K2 audio controller. These solutions significantly lead the invoice, whereas the gains they make are not always obvious. The presence of an amplifier helmet will be more significant. Panel aft of the G1.Sniper 2 shows ports, HDMI, eSATA and USB 3.0. The side a little more, it should be noted the presence of an automatic overclocking button, a Touch BIOS, and a control panel (powered) eSATA port and two additional USB 3.0 ports. It has therefore case a relatively complete product, but we excuse a high label!

Gigabyte announces its PCI-Express 3.0 and Ivy Bridge compatible motherboards

gigabyte_logo

Known Ivy Bridge, which will be the next generation of Intel processor with the 22 nm, will be compatible with Socket 1155 via a bios update. Gigabyte publishes a list revealing its motherboards series 6 compatible with Ivy Bridge as well as with the standard PCI-Express 3.0.

Support for the PCI-Express 3.0 standard is unique since it depends on the used processor. The Sandy Bridge integrates current processors a controller, which manages 16 lines PCI-Express 2.0 used for graphics cards. Unlike Ivy Bridge will handle sixteen lines PCI-Express 3.0 standard. Slots PCI-Express 3.0 and 2.0 being the same, a switch on the motherboard will then allow following the processor installed to use one or the other.
Course according to the number of adapters installed sixteen lines PCI-Express 3.0 will be spread over one or two ports PCI-Express.Here is the list of motherboards Gigabyte compatible PCI-Express 3.0 and Ivy Bridge via a bios update:
