Google announced this morning that the Android Market now supported multi-scoping (format in which the Android applications are distributed). An announcement that is intended primarily for developers, even if the information is more important to consumers that it may have air.

Indeed, a current, when sought an application such as Fruit Ninja on the Android Marketplace, this last proposes to download classic, developed the basis for smartphones, and the version "thd", high-definition and optimized for tablets with Nvidia Tegra 2 chip. It is embarrassing, to the extent if the owners of bars one no doubt for the optimized version, they will have to re - download (and therefore retake the Caisse) if they want to get the classic version for their Android phone.

A real problem to which Google responded by multi-scoping, as was already the case under iOS with applications marked with a "+" on the App Store, both compatible with the iPhone and iPod with the iPad. In the future, a game like Fruit Ninja can be proposed in a single entry on the Market, which will automatically launch the download of the version best suited to the terminal used by the consumer. And as he has already bought (it also obviously walking with free applications) once the app, it can download it again on another terminal with its account without having to highlight its virtual wallet.

Of course, Google was already in the past encouraged developers to ensure that their applications are adapted to a maximum of possible terminals, with menus that automatically put across for example. But with this new system, developers can easily combine multiple versions of the same application behind a single title in appearance, and thus book HD textures to the shelves versions, allowing for example versions smartphones to be lighter and better optimized.

In short, everyone should be winning. Not to mention publishers that will be for some delighted to see the users notice be grouped around a single version of their work, and not scattered. Note also that developers will be absolutely not required to create unique applications and will continue to distribute multiple versions of their applications if they wish.
