Neal Robison, Director of ISV (Independent Software Vendor) in AMD relations, said in an interview with an Official Xbox Magazine Editor that the graphics performance of the Xbox 720 chip will be at the level of those of the film Avatar.
AMD declined to comment. It would therefore appear that this is not the official discourse of the company, but the opinion of one of its senior officials. Mr. Robinson even spread on the topic by stating that the level of performance will allow games like Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row for extras with each their own artificial intelligence and physical characteristics. For example, all pedestrians being over by a car not have the same reaction and the same movements.
Microsoft admitted not for the moment working on a new console, even it is clear that it is preparing the succession of the Xbox 360. The new version could disembark the next four years, according to the rumours (cf. "A new Xbox by 2015?"). The technical features of the Xbox 720 remain unknown. Nevertheless, ATI, today AMD, is the author of the graphic chip that integrates the console today. It is therefore normal that Redmond is still appeal to its services. In the meantime, and to maximize the attractiveness of its platform, Microsoft might decide to run games Xbox 360 on Windows 8.
