Cabinet of GfK studies note that elapsed 1.45 million touch tablets on the public market in France in 2011, an amount greater than its own expectations (1 million units, which had been revised during the year to 1.2 million), and approximately 100,000 additional units on the professional market.

To be reckoned with shelves
At the same time, sales of desktops in France fell on a year, reaching 1.24 million units in 2011 (from 1.4 million in 2010). If the segment of laptops remains dominant, it is therefore sold more tactile France shelves than desktop in 2011.

This is not really a surprise, analysts estimates pointing long chronic desktop sales slowdown, notably because of the interest of consumers for new mobile and nomadic devices.

However, it is interesting to note that multimedia touch tablets (non-Tablet PC Professional) market was almost not in 2010. And that relevant: GfK evaluates to €420 the average price of the tablets, which makes it a market of EUR 609 million in 2011, against EUR 703 million for the desktop market.

If Apple and its iPad Tablet benefit most from this trend, the French Archos, very early present on a niche positioned under the average price, nor the situation complained.
