OLED screens for the roofs of our future cars

The German chemical group BASF and Dutch electronics group Philips have partnered to develop a technology that could greatly interested the automotive sector.

It is an OLED screen with a 1.8 mm thickness which can be transparent to allow any external light to pass through or be opaque and light to illuminate itself. In the case of a ceiling of car, this allows to provide a maximum of light to passengers during the day and a light more or less subdued in the passenger compartment when it comes to night.

The idea is even more interesting than the screen in question feeds itself. Through the integration ofphotovoltaic ELLs c and the use of a small battery (integrated or deported, nothing specified in this topic), indeed, it takes advantage of solar energy that crossed it all day.
