Electric cars: autonomy reached 800 km

It is a beautiful advanced come to California researchers at IBM. Developing batteries to lithium-air, with a density of 1 000 times higher than currently used lithium-ion batteries researchers offer a whole new perspective to the electric vehicle. Currently, this type of vehicle is quite limited due to a still low powerful battery. With a range of 160 km on average, electric vehicles could not be truly competitive.

And yet, they may soon become. With lithium-air batteries, electric vehicles could take the distance of 800 kilometres, or equal to a autonomy vehicle traditional diesel or gasoline.

Lithium-air batteries problem however and are evidence of instability chemical, due to their components, including carbon. Here is the only major brake of this new technological achievement, but IBM researchers hope exceed this stage very quickly.
