The findings of a test on the interference of waves TNT by the 4 G network are not good...
We are already several times back on the risk of interference to DTT by the future 4 G mobile network is not without concern, and the digital terrestrial TV broadcasters and mobile operators that will be directly involved financially to address the problems identified. As such, we today take knowledge of new developments, with the conclusions of the experiment conducted in the city of Laval. And the results are not good, as Les Echos noted. Indeed, identified disturbances are "more important than expected", almost all of the channels TNT is concerned, the report provides difficulties "on the national territory".
If concerns persist when GPS signals disruption disturbances are indeed found on waves of the TNT, the frequencies of the 800 MHz is apparently too close to avoid all interference. "Despite the means implemented and the work of three teams equipped with 50 filters and réjecteurs, he has never been possible at the same time on all issuers LTE in concert, and still less to overcome interference generated" explained the report which States that for the moment, the only real solution envisaged for problem is an intervention in the case by case for individuals. This nevertheless involves costly technical interventions and whose effectiveness is not 100% guaranteed!
Finally, as our colleagues from Tom's Hardware, the end of the report contains a surprising passage. Reads: "Each of the LTE blocks disrupts at a comparable level of DTT reception". This means therefore that Bouygues Telecom, who obtained the nearest frequency block of frequencies of the TNT for a much lower price than offered by its competitors Orange and SFR, would have a good case. Its competitors a little less... Bouygues Telecom position to recall, there is little that there was risk of interference between TNT and 4 G on approximately 20% of the territory, a figure which - according to the Government - was largely overvalued. Today, the authorities are burdened with problems the conclusions of this report that fall, as if by magic, a few days after the end of the procedure for allocating frequencies 4 G by Arcep. Finally, Free Mobile will may really be no regret having seen its offer registered by the telecoms regulator.
